There's a sadness to the silence,
An extended pause for thought
In familiar environments, a stretch
For a forgotten song lyric, a reach
Towards a small knowing that
Somehow eludes your strongest
Focus and leaves you dazed in
The bitter morning light through
The crack in your tattered curtains.
You are awake, alone while the
Earth sleeps and no discordant
Voices disturb the glade where
Your thought has rest it's head.
There may be a sadness to the
Silence, but it is not unpleasant
In the slight magic it carries
Wherever you sit together.
